Agilent's Life Sciences and Chemical Analysis business has introduced a new suite of Intelligent Services and Compliance Services offering that will change the way LSCA serves its analytical laboratory customers.

The Intelligent Service technology is poised to move our service offering into a new dimension through the ability to diagnose and service instruments remotely, asset management by direct measurement over the internet of instrument use, status and diagnostic information and the Compliance Services are paving our way to leadership in performing laboratory wide instrument qualifications with unified protocol.

Our mission is to move LSCA's services from the current reactive position we share with our competitors, to a predictive capability that will address key customer concerns such as instrument uptime, return on invested capital and efficiency of service delivery.

Our goal is to apply technology to virtually eliminate customers from service administration and downtime by fixing and servicing their instrumentation before it has failed.

As the successful candidate you will join an existing team in a key position working on developing software platform for these capabilities. You will be accountable for designing key components as well as managing and developing critical components yourself in combination with the commercially available packages and off-shore contract development team.

You will be expected to have a broad range of software development knowledge including system design, project management and hands on development as well as knowledge and some experience working with and supporting web-based database applications using .NET and relational databases.

Additionally a good knowledge of a service business and analytical chemistry applications will be a distinct advantage. Strong communication and teamwork with product marketing, product support, quality and our service delivery channels will be key factors for success in the position.

Specific responsibilities include:
• Working with the other R&D team and other functions(marketing, sales, quality, finance, support and delivery organizations) to determine appropriate technology capabilities, tools and infrastructure in support of the overall program.
• Translation of market requirements into a software architecture and module designs for your area of focus.
• Module development through formal development methodology.
• Project management of external contractors as required.
• Support and maintenance of the solution including the enterprise application.

This position can be located in Santa Clara, California, Englewood or Loveland Colorado.

Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Engineering and 3 or more years of relevant experience as an R&D Software Engineer or equivalent with a minimum of 1 year experience with modern object oriented technologies and databases. .NET experience is a plus Chemistry background or experience with bio-analytical instruments is also a plus.
