Syrris Add new Turbidity Sensor to its Range of Atlas Automated Synthesis Products
Date Posted: Friday, September 19, 2008
Syrris has introduced the new Atlas turbidity system, designed for monitoring and controlling crystallization, emulsion and suspension processes.
The Atlas system is designed to enable turbidity to be examined and modified in jacketed reactors and round bottom flasks etc. by controlling the temperature as well as any additions to the vessel. This system benefits from the high signal to noise ratio of the turbidity probe, ensuring that precise data is obtained. Turbidity is then visualized on the Atlas Base unit and real-time graphs can be generated using the Atlas software, in the full controlled lab reactor mode.
This system has a simple 2 point calibration, resulting in a 0 – 100% turbidity range. Automatic data logging enables the user to monitor the results directly from the user-friendly Atlas Base and download any data onto a USB device without PC control.
Furthermore, with the Atlas PC software, the system can crystallize along a turbidity ramp, allowing the determination of the metastable zone. With a wide temperature range of -80 to >200oc, the turbidity probe can be used with any Atlas reactor across a wide range of applications such as polymorphism studies, crystal seeding effects scale-up synthesis and process development.
The Atlas Turbidity system is ideal for use in procedures involving crystallization, where it is often essential to ensure downstream processes, such as solids handling, filtration, milling and drying, are consistent and effective.
