Quality Systems Co-ordinator
Date Posted: Thursday, July 10, 2008
My client provides cell substrates for vaccine production, reference materials for genetic diagnostics and microscopy for diagnostic and general research activities.
The Division also incorporates a Stem Cell Bank which has been established to provide a repository for human stem cell lines of all types, and supply well characterised cell lines, both for basic research and for the development of clinical applications under appropriate and accredited quality systems.
They have a requirement for a co-ordinator to join the team. This position provides day-to-day support and co-ordination for quality management systems. This will include the administration, monitoring, review and revision of the quality systems in place within CBI (ISO 17025 and 13485) and the UKSCB (EU GMP and the EU Tissues and Cells Directive) ; the post will be critical to meeting the requirements of these different quality systems that apply in the Division. The co-ordinator will play a central role in keeping important QA activity moving forward under challenging circumstances, often with tight timelines, and will need to be able to apply the various standards appropriately in the challenges that arise in their day to day work.
The post-holder will need to have excellent administrative and communication skills to act as an interface contributing to quality system audits. They will therefore need to be aware of the higher level aims and functions of the Division and Institute, and shape their activity accordingly. They will also be involved in reviewing staff training and organizing training programmes.
The successful applicant will be a scientist with a life sciences degree and a solid science background (preferably 5 years or more) in microbiology, cell biology or a related area, gained in the pharmaceutical, biomedical or biotechnological industries. Experience in quality assurance is essential, and in particular familiarity with ISO 9000, ISO 17025, GMP or CE marking will be highly desirable. Experience of cell culture and/or molecular biology techniques will also be valuable.
