Postdoctoral Research Associate The Maryland Microfluidics Laboratory at the University of Maryland invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate. Applicants with experience in advanced polymer microfluidic fabrication techniques, microfludic systems for protein separations and analysis, and/or coupling between microfluidics and ESI-MS or MALDI-MS are invited to apply.

The ideal candidate will have substantial hands-on experience in both microfludic platform development and analytical process development, and be driven by a desire to apply microfluidic technologies to real-world challenges in proteomic analysis of clinical samples.

The successful candidate will work with an interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers on the development of new methods for multiplexed multidimensional microfluidic protein separations including on-chip detection and back-end mass spectrometry. Experience with microfluidic system fabrication and characterization is desirable, but not required. Candidates with suitable experience and a doctoral degree in a relevant engineering discipline, analytical chemistry, or related field are encouraged to apply. Strong spoken and written communication skills are essential.

The Maryland Microfluidics Laboratory (MML) is an interdisciplinary research group involving faculty within multiple departments within the College of Engineering and the College of Life Sciences at the University of Maryland. Lab activities address innovative research in biomolecular detection including the coupling of microfluidic separations to mass spectrometry. In addition, MML researchers partner closely with local biotech companies and federal laboratories.
